Can Google beat Microsoft in a game where MS defined the rules of the game?

Google claims that more then 100,000 SMBs and two of the top 25 companies in the world has shifted to their new online Office application, prior to its official launch today. The Google Apps includes wordprocessing, spreadsheet, calendaring, email, instant messaging and voice mail capabilities at $50 per user account per year charge.
